First Aid Kit

Consider keeping a first aid kit for your pet on hand and stocked at all times. It's also a good thing to travel with since outdoor adventures can result in an accident that needs some medical attention.

From time to time we offer popular first aid courses through our Community Learning Series. Check the events calendar for upcoming seminars. In the course we recommend a first aid kit with the following contents, based on input from K-9 Police handlers:

  • Bandage materials
  • 3-4" cast padding, 2 rolls
  • 3-4" Conform, 2 rolls
  • 3" Proflex, 2 rolls
  • Zonas tape
  • KY packet (sterile lube), 2
  • Cotton balls
  • Q-tips, 5
  • Telfa pad 3x4"
  • 4x4 gauze sponge, 10
  • Bandage scissors
  • Rectal thermometer
  • Splint
  • Chlorhexiderm scrub 2%, 6oz. Btl.
  • 0.9% NaCl, Saline irrigation, 6 oz. Btl.
  • Curved tipped syringe
  • Eye Wash, 4 oz. Btl.
  • Artificial tears ointment
  • Diphenhydramine, 25mg tabs
  • Scalpel Blade, #11
  • Kelly or Crile Hemostat, 5-1/2" Straight
  • Standard Thumb Forcep, 5-1/2"
  • Nye tourniquet
  • Exam gloves
