To pick a good horse, you look at his teeth. But how do you pick a GOOD VET?

Selecting a Veterinarian

Look at experience. Consider schooling, board certification, credentials, and their experience with all sorts of different conditions, diseases, and trauma. At our hospital, our team has probably seen more intense cases in a year than other individual vets see in a lifetime. This experience makes a difference when care goes from routine to acute. Pets can't talk so your vet's diagnosis is critical to getting the right care in a timely manner.

Hours of operation. You need convenience and continuity of care. That's why we offer appointments seven days a week and we have vets here 24 hours a day, every day. Twenty-four hour care means that if your pet requires an overnight stay that his case is transferred to another vet for clinical supervision overnight.

Continuity of care. In human hospitals care doesn't stop at 5 p.m., and it doesn't stop then with us, either. We're staffed and operating 24 hours a day and equipped for emergencies and specialist care. We're ready to handle about any eventuality or complication even in the middle of the night. With routine care, specialist care, emergency care and rehabilitation housed under one roof, your pet's medical history is comprehensive, complete and in real time.

Giving back to the community. We give back to our community. VCA AEVH offers world-class standards of care at discounted rates for the Denver and Aurora K-9 police dogs, DIA working dogs, Safe Harbor Lab Rescue, Recycled Racers, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies. We've even provided veterinary care to the Denver Zoo for over two decades. And we care for some 400 stray animals each year.
